About the project

The Eisklangkonzerte offer exceptional artistic performances every year. These concerts take place in one of the most remarkable “concert halls” in the world – the Parzival Dome in the Dachstein Giant Ice Cave in Obertraun. Limited to a circle of around 200 visitors, the audience experiences the artists up close. Two commissions for contemporary music will be supported by the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 for the predominantly touristic programme. The aim is to make the series of contemporary music events sustainable beyond 2024 – 2024 will be the starting point for the modern programme: world premieres will take place in the ice caves for the first time that year. In future, this format is to become an annual meeting of composers and musicians who artistically engage with the conditions of the ice cave.
