The Salzkammergut (with Bad Ischl as the applying city) is bidding for the title of “European Capital of Culture 2024”. This offers the chance to re-think the region within a European context, to analyse its strengths and weaknesses and to initiate a longterm perspective.
As the basis for the application a cultural development plan is being drafted, which serves as an action framework for cultural policy with a lasting effect. It comprises cross-sectional topics like education, mobility, labour, building culture, infrastructure, economy, tourism, migration, politics, ecology and others.
Salzkammergut 2024 addresses everyone who lives here and/or who feels connected to the region. The question of how we want to live together in the Salzkammergut affects all of us!
