The Ebensee Museum of Contemporary History, located in the immediate vicinity of the former Ebensee concentration camp, recalls the political history of Austria and the Salzkammergut region between 1918 and 1955. As an open house of history with national and international cooperations, it shows the political conflicts of the camp culture of the First Republic, the history of National Socialism, the forms of resistance and the basic features of dealing with the Nazi era after 1945. The museum’s focus is on educational activities. As a place of remembrance and learning, the Museum of Contemporary History and the Concentration Camp Memorial are equipped with a comprehensive collection of educational programs and projects. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there is a library, an archive, a cafeteria and event rooms.
