Born in 1965, grew up on parents’ farm on the Sernauberg in Gamlitz (southern Styria), at the age of 7 career aspirations – winemaker – were clear. Training at the Silberberg viticulture school, 1987 got married, renounced parental inheritance in order to better realize his goals, 1987 to 1992: management of a leading winery in southern Styria as administrator, first organic experiments, training as a master winemaker and cellar master, best Chardonnay in Austria, regional winner. 1993 took over of his parent’s farm for family reasons, promoted winemaker of the year, 1998 Conversion to gentle viticulture (minimal cultivation). The aim is to certify gentle viticulture as the most sensible way of cultivating vineyards (70 – 80% savings in operating resources and machinery). 2024 handover of the business to his children in order to have time for the new important projects.
