is a “Zipserdeutscher”, descendant of the families from Ischl, Gmunden, Tyrol called by Emperor Josef II, son and co-regent of Empress Maria Theresia to settle in Bukovina. He was born as the son of a Hungarian and a Romanian German of the Socialist Republic of Romania. In 1991 he emigrated with his family to Nuremberg, where he grew up speaking three languages.

In 2019 he received the Retzhofer Dramapreis for his play “Karpatenflecken”, it was premiered at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.

In 2023 Thomas Perle received the Nestroy Prize “Best Play – Author Award” for Karpatenflecken.
