Phase 2: Shortlist

With our pre-selection bid book and the hearing at the end of the first phase, the Salzkammergut made it into the final selection round on 31 January 2019.

Also in the second “shortlist” phase we have developed different formats to involve the people from all across the region. On 4 July 2019, a first regional meeting with various clubs and associations took place. In summer 2019 we hit the road with our mobile office.

Until autumn 2019 we further developed and finalized our second and final Bidbook. At the same time we prepared the visit of the European jury to the Salzkammergut, which took place on November 8, 2019. The focus of the final bidbook was on implementation details, concrete plans and an enhanced program.

The final decision, that the region Salzkammergut with its lead city of Bad Ischl will be the European Capital of Culture 2024 in Austria was made on 12th November 2019.
