The project provides an impetus to actively engage with the future of the Salzkammergut region. How do we wish to live here? Which challenges need to be tackled?
With a cultural development plan we design a long-term perspective and take the future creatively and courageously into our hands.
On the basis of the cultural development plan, the application concept for the European Capital of Culture 2024, the so-called Bidbook, is currently being developed. For this initiative, the bidding team is consulted by Acultos.
What’s the plan for the coming months?
The application for the European Capital of Culture 2024 has to be delivered to the Austrian Federal Chancellery by 31 December 2018.
In autumn 2018, the project team kept working intensively on the Bidbook and moved into the stage of fine-tuning by winter. Simultaneously, the cultural development plan, the contents of which are also part of the application concept, is further formulated.
Starting in late autumn 2018, we have been preparing the presentation to the Jury that will take place in the end of January 2019 in Vienna. There we will present our concept and vision to ten international experts. In a press conference on the next day, the decision of which applicants will progress to the next round will be announced.
If we make it to the so-called shortlist, we will further develop the application and prepare the Jury’s visit to the Salzkammergut. The final decision which Austrian city will be awarded the title of European Cultural Capital 2024, will be made in the end of 2019.
Independently of the competition results, the cultural development plan will constitute a long-lasting effect of this initiative. Our aim is to realise the key measures embedded therein promptly.
