Description

A staged reading of the text donauwellen by Thomas Perle.

The “Heimat-Welt” project, which has the motto “In search of lost times and new hopes”, began in January 2024, when young writers from Argentina, Austria, Senegal, Ukraine and Romania spent several months on a creative residency in the Salzkammergut. In their texts, they explored the concept of “home” in a direct and unbiased way, between the nostalgia of the past and the realities of the present. Romanian-born writer and playwright Thomas Perle also took part in the project.

Thomas Perle, winner of the renowned Austrian theatre prize “Nestroy”, was granted a residency in Timisoara last year by the German Cultural Forum Eastern Europe, where he was city writer for the Capital of Culture Year 2023. Perle is a close collaborator of the DSTT and last year worked with Clemens Bechtel on the text of the production “Sidy Thal” about the anti-Semitic attack on the theatre building in Timisoara in 1938.
