Engaged, creative and linguistically concise texts from German-language literature are being solicited. The submitted work (prose or lyric prose) on the topic of “near and far” should reflect personal points of view of a variety of people from Europe in a literary way. The focus will be placed on identity, coming to terms with the past and the effects of globalization in the digital era. The spaces for young people, setting off for new environments and displacement can also be examined from a variety of perspectives.
An independent jury of experts will place texts by ten adults and four young people on a shortlist from the submissions. Those selected will be read their texts on June 22 and 23, 2024, accompanied by a schedule of music programming on the topic of the competition put together by local and international musicians.
The jury prizes and the audience prize will be awarded after the readings:
- 1st prize: 4,000 €
- 2nd prize: 2,000 €
- 2 audience prizes of 500 € each
- 2 youth prizes of 1,000 € each
An anthology of the fourteen texts will be published by Pilum Verlag.
