The woodpassage, a walk-in installation made of wood, can be seen from 12/09 to 03/11/24 not far from the car park at Seegasthof Almsee. The passage conveys the transformation from tree to house with simple pictogrammatic signs in 40 steps. The woodpassage project as part of the Capital of Culture 2024 is supported by the cooperation platform Forst Holz Papier and funded by the Austrian Waldfonds Forest Fund.

The focus is on the landscape, which has been heavily characterised by salt mining and industry in recent centuries.

Der Workshop „Basics im Fußballtraining“ ist Teil der Zusammenarbeit des OÖ FUSSBALLVERBANDES mit der Kulturhauptstadt Europas Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024. Die Kooperation zwischen den beiden Institutionen zielt darauf ab, Frauenfußball vor allem auch im ländlichen Raum sichtbarer zu machen und die Strukturen im Frauenfußball zu stärken.

Bei diesem Intensiv-Ausbildungstag in Obertraun wird interessierten Teilnehmerinnen in Theorie- und Praxiseinheiten wichtiges Fachwissen vermittelt, das für die adäquate Abwicklung eines Trainings notwendig ist. Dazu zählen die Grundlagen der Trainingsorganisation, der methodische Aufbau, die wesentlichsten Inhalte und Coachingpunkte. Der praktische Teil wird mit den Teilnehmerinnen umgesetzt, daher wird Sportbekleidung (bei Schlechtwetter auch Schuhwerk für die Halle) benötigt.

„Trainerinnen sind der Schlüssel dafür, um noch mehr weibliche Aktive für Fußball zu begeistern, zumal ein Mädchen in der Trainerin auch eine Vertrauensperson sieht. Ein Ziel des Verbandes ist es daher, mehr Trainerinnen auszubilden. Die gemeinsam mit der Kulturhauptstadt 2024 erstmalige Durchführung einer Fortbildung nur für Frauen ist eine spannende Maßnahme, von der wir uns viel versprechen“, erklärt der Geschäftsführer des OÖ FUßBALLVERBANDES Raphael Koch. Der OÖFV-Direktor für Sport & Spielbetrieb wird am 28. September ebenso referieren wie Thomas Weissenböck, der Leiter der OÖFV-Trainerausbildung. Der Workshop findet im BSFZ Obertraun statt. Auf die Begrüßung um 9.30 Uhr folgt eine Praxiseinheit. Nach einer Mittagspause geht es mit einem Theorieteil weiter, ehe die Vereinscoaching-Veranstaltung am Nachmittag mit Reflexion und Diskussion endet.

With 5,000 participants from over 40 different nations, the Salzkammergut Trophy around Lake Hallstatt is one of the biggest MTB events in the Alps! The longest of the seven marathon distances available – over 210 kilometers and 7,049 meters of altitude – leads through the entire “UNESCO World Heritage Region Hallstatt/Dachstein-Salzkammergut” and is one of the most beautiful and impressive marathon routes in all of Europe!

Let’s go to the Salzkammergut Trophy 2024:
Bad Goisern; The 27th edition of the Salzkammergut Trophy will take place from 12 to 14 July 2024.

Austria’s biggest and toughest mountain bike event will once again offer seven marathon distances between 22 and 209 kilometres. The first bikers start at 5 a.m. on the Goisern market square and have a long day ahead of them on the notorious extreme distance with over 7,000 metres of altitude!
In addition to the mountain bike marathon, there are also separate competitions for unicycles and gravel bikes. On Trophy Sunday, the Scott Junior Trophy and the Bosch (e)MTB scavenger hunt are on the programme.

In addition, there is a great supporting program in the center of Bad Goisern: Bike-Expo, helicopter sightseeing flights, the legendary After-Race-Party as well as exciting and action-packed spectator meetings directly at the race course provide variety and fun at the unique Bike-Weekend in the Salzkammergut!

Community Ride mit Max Riese und MTB Traunsee

The Salzburg local Max Riese is not only a passionate gravel biker and ultra cyclist, but also a well-versed expert on the Salzkammergut region. As the only one, he took on the 210 km and 7900 m elevation gain Trophy A route with a gravel bike when gravel biking was still only familiar to a few insiders. His training and pleasure tours often take him to the Salzkammergut, allowing him to present you with the most beautiful places along the routes in this World Heritage region. The main focus is on the shared experience of gravel biking and a beautiful community ride in the Salzkammergut, free from performance pressure and athletic achievement.

Schedule:

The tour starts at 9:00 am at the parking lot Handwerkhaus Bad Goisern
fter a brief meet-up, the tour starts around Bad Goisern. Restaurants along the route will be visited for refreshment.
The tour returns to the marketplace in Bad Goisern around 3:00 pm, with a concluding gathering at the café directly on the marketplace.

Equipment:

The tour will be done with gravel bikes. Protective gear like helmets and gloves are recommended. A bikepacking bag with energy bars and emergency equipment, etc., is also recommended. You can find more equipment recommendations here.

In case of bad weather, alternative date is Sunday, May 7th!

Pins of Remembrance Ride

The meeting point is the Trinkhalle Bad Ischl, where the historical cycle tour starts with historian Kurt Lux along the historical pins. He provided historical advice for the project “Pins of Remembrance – Bad Ischl’s Culture of Remembrance” and is one of the initiators.
The “Culture of Remembrance in Bad Ischl” project is concerned with the fact that there is almost no evidence of a culture of remembrance in the public space in relation to the National Socialist era – although there is plenty of history worth remembering in this regard, with many Jewish residents and guests of the region affected by Nazi persecution, as well as the well-known resistance activities in the Salzkammergut.
No special physical condition is required for the tour. We recommend wearing a cycle helmet and weatherproof clothing to take part in the historical tour. The ride will not take place if it rains.

European Peace Ride

The Peace Ride is not a competition, but instead an encounter and exchange on an international level. The International Peace Ride was the most highly regarded amateur cycling event behind the Iron Curtain. The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 brings the peace ride back to life as a bicycle culture event.

First, there will be information on the previous IDAs in Gmunden (21 March) and Altmünster (10 April) as well as the steps and goals of the initiative. Markus Pekoll, Styria’s regional MTB coordinator, will then provide insights into his successful work at the interface between the region, tourism and the community. Markus is also a former world-class downhill pro and coach to DH World Cup winner and runner-up Andreas Kolb.

Afterwards, the survey results and aspects relating to the region will be openly discussed and ideas for improving the current situation around biking will be forged together while networking. If you want to make a difference when it comes to mountain biking in Ebensee and the Traunsee region, don’t miss this opportunity!

43rd Oberbank Toscanalauf in Gmunden On Sunday, 9 June 2024, the 43rd edition of the Oberbank Toscanalauf will take place in Gmunden. The start time of 8.30 am is new. In addition to the two classic runs over 4.2 and 8.3 kilometres along the Esplanade and through the Toscana Park, this year the traditional family run will also be open to all those who enjoy being out in the fresh air in one of the most beautiful places in the Salzkammergut and want to walk or jog the course. The new Fun Run & Walk emphasises the fun of exercise with like-minded people. Prizes are not awarded to the fastest runner, but to the runner who comes closest to the average time. The start and finish of the respective competitions is at Gmunden Town Hall Square. The stage belongs to the young runners from 10.15 am. Children and youngsters start separately by age group at Rathausplatz and tackle the circuits along the Esplanade, which vary in length depending on age. A new feature is that the youth races will be extended to include the U18 age group. All participants will receive a finisher’s medal and a finisher’s pack, and the fastest runners will receive Gmunden vouchers and great prizes. The competition mozart Marathon over 42 km and 1.700 m+ starts directly in St. Gilgen respectively at the Lake Wolfgang. The mozart Marathon leads from St. Gilgen over the Weisswand and the Mozartblick to Fuschl. From here the route runs along the Fuschlsee to the Plötz waterfall, before Nockstein and Kapuzinerberg Mountains prepare for the finish in the city of Salzburg.

Nach der erfolgreichen Premiere 2023 findet business2run SEP am Donnerstag, 16. Mai 2024 wieder rund um den Familien Einkaufspark in Gmunden statt! Abgerundet wird der „Team-Building-Event“ mit einer „Pasta-Party“! Alle Firmen und Unternehmen haben ab sofort wieder die Möglichkeit ihre Mitarbeiter zu diesem Business-Event anzumelden.

Der Start des business2run SEP erfolgt am Donnerstag, 16. Mai um 19:00 Uhr am Müller-Parkplatz im SEP – Salzkammergut Familieneinkaufspark. Anschließend führt die Strecke alle 3er-Teams (Männer, Frauen, Mixed) vorbei an der Gmundner Milch Molkerei bis hinunter zur Traun. Weiter geht es über das Kraftwerk Gmunden entlang der Traun bis zur Schlachthausgasse. Von dort wird in Richtung des Gmundner Stadion gelaufen, dann nach rechts entlang des Friedhofs, bevor es nach links zur Gmundner Keramik geht und wieder zurück zum SEP.

Pasta-Party nach dem Lauf
Im Anschluss an den sportlichen Wettkampf stehen im Zielbereich allen Teilnehmer*innen Getränke und Obst zur Verfügung. Zudem wird es eine “Pasta-Party” geben

We are opening the series of events as part of the women’s and girls’ football project with an U12 hobby tournament, organised by the Upper Austrian Football Association, which is taking place in the Salzkammergut for the first time.

The U12 girls’ tournament, organised by the Upper Austrian Football Association, will kick off at 2 pm at Gmunden stadium. Five teams from all over Upper Austria will be playing: ASKÖ Mädls, SPG Neuzug/Sierning, Hausruckgirls, Spg Stadt-Paura/Pettenbach/Lambach, AU Abtenau. The playing time: 14 minutes each, the break between the games 2 minutes.

Gerald Reindl, co-founder of the Upper Austrian women’s football academy, Head of Sport and coach at Kleinmünchen, on the Upper Austrian women’s football academy: “The women’s football academy was founded in 2015 as a section of the most successful football club in Upper Austria, Union Kleinmünchen. In 2022, a separate club was founded for the academy, which consists of the 2 members FC Blau Weiß Linz and Union Kleinmünchen. In the 2022/2023 season, the Upper Austrian Women’s Football Academy took over the Future League team from SPG FC Blau Weiß Linz / Union Kleinmünchen and now plays in the ÖFB Future League. The academy’s task is to train Bundesliga players for SPG SPG FC Blau Weiß Linz / Union Kleinmünchen. It also regularly manages to recruit junior team players and complete an international transfer almost every year. The facility will celebrate its 10th anniversary in the 2024/2025 season.

Bernd Winkler, Head of Women’s Football, former Bundesliga player at SCR Altach and other clubs, on Red Bull Salzburg U16: “FC Red Bull Salzburg entered women’s football in the 2023/2024 season. As a first step, the U16 girls will take part in the championship of the Salzburg U14 Sparkassenliga against boys. Our common goal is to create the appropriate structures to attract as many young female players from the region as possible to us, to offer them training at a high level and thus allow women’s football to grow sustainably. The squad for this young team is made up exclusively of players from the region. In general, it is important to us that we offer the girls a good training environment. They should all have very good opportunities for sporting development. In doing so, we rely on the same philosophy that we have already had very good experiences with for the boys at the Red Bull Football Academy.

Better mountain biking

Input comes from the “MTB Traunsee” initiative, which conducted a survey last summer & autumn to gauge the mood on biking in the region. Christoph Berger-Schauer will also provide insights into the future topic of mountain biking. Christoph is the mastermind behind the Austrian mountain bike magazine “LINES” and the person who pulls the strings in Austria when it comes to the common interests of the diverse MTB scene. It’s all about the MTB lifestyle and culture. Cycling is a unifying element in our society, let’s talk about it! That’s why the Capital of Culture Salzkammergut 2024 is also on board, which will be staging the “European Peace Ride” project in September.

Afterwards, the survey results and aspects relating to the region will be openly discussed and ideas for improving the current situation around biking will be forged together while networking. Anyone who wants to make a difference in mountain biking in Altmünster and the Traunsee region should not miss this opportunity.

Austrias greatest adventure run with more than 4.000 starters

From Bad Ischl around the lake. 27 kilometers classical distance, 10 kilometers shore run, 5,2 kilometers panorama run.

For the “Run around lake Wolfgangsee” it’s the third special award within just 2 years. In January 2013 “Run around lake Wolfgangsee” could come in second at the voting for the “Most celebrated run in Austria 2012” behind the “Vienna City Marathon” and in February 2014 the “Run around lake Wolfgangsee” could also come in second.

RUNNING FESTIVAL AT LAKE TRAUNSEE
On the “longest” Saturday of the year, 22nd June, the Traunsee Half Marathon is already on the programme. More than 1,000 running enthusiasts will once again run into the sunset in front of an impressive backdrop. A total of three different distances can be mastered, all of which run along the idyllic lakeshore.

Traunsee Half Marathon attracts with unique panorama
On the “longest” Saturday of the year, 22 June, thousands of running enthusiasts and spectators will once again be welcomed to Lake Traunsee to run into the sunset against an impressive backdrop. At the fourth edition of the Traunsee Half Marathon, however, not only the runners of the half marathon distance will enjoy the idyllic panorama at Lake Traunsee. A total of 4 different events can be completed over 3 distances. The Hervis Half Marathon is and remains the supreme discipline of the event. 21.0975 km have to be covered from Ebensee to the town hall square in Gmunden. But for most of the participants it is not about winning, but rather about enjoying the great panorama at Lake Traunsee and finishing the half marathon as a “sun finisher” and thus before sunset. The start on the “longest Saturday of the year” is traditionally at 19:08.

The mountain marathon is a tour for demanding and persevering mountain hikers and runners (Attention: alpine terrain!) With the aim to climb all the peaks around the Traunsee. Approximately 70 km distance and 4,500 vertical meters are to be mastered. It can also be completed as a half marathon (start in Gmunden – finish in Ebensee or start in Ebensee – finish in Gmunden). The mountain marathon is not a race, there is no time rating!

The Daffodil Run offers 8.1 kilometers (one lap) or 15.5 kilometers (two laps), as well as the Nordic Walking course with 11.1 kilometers.

Start and finish is the Volkshaus Altaussee.

Start times:
Mass start for 8.1 km: 12:00 noon
Mass start for 15.5 km: 12:15 p.m.
Mass start for Nordic Walking and integration run: 12:25 a.m.

At 10:00 a.m. there will be the kids run for bambini (about 200 meters), children (about 1.1 kilometers), pupils (about 2.2 kilometers).

Already since1987 the Int. Sparkassen Lake Hallstatt run takes place, and again and again the participants rave about the 21 km in the beautiful landscape of the Salzkammergut of the most beautiful half marathon in Austria.

As a participant in the Int. Sparkasse Lake Hallstatt run, you will circumnavigate Lake Hallstatt and run through the three World Heritage villages. You start in Hallstatt in the direction of Obertraun, the home of the Dachstein Krippenstein. Once there, you continue along the east bank hiking trail and east bank biking trail to Obersee, the first district of Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt. There you pass the 10 km mark. Congratulations!

Continue to Steeg, another district of Goisern. The last 5 km of the Int.Sparkasse Lake Hallstatt run begin here. Here you unpack your last energy reserves and reach the finish at the market place in Hallstatt, where all your fans are already waiting for you!

Road no. L 547 between Hallstatt and Obertraun for all vehicle traffic: from 8.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.
Road no. B 166 between Steeg and Gosaumühle one side of the road closed: from 9.35 a.m. to 11.15 a.m.
Road no. L 547 between Goiserermühle and Hallstatt for all vehicle traffic: from 9:35 a.m. to 12:00 a.m

Run Around the Lake Gosau

The annual run around the lake Gosaussee takes place on Friday 17th of May 2024

Start: 18:00 at Gasthof Gosausee
Closing time: 17:00 at Gasthof Gosausee
Registration: at Gasthof Gosausee
Course: 4.2 km at almost 1000m above sea level
Character: technically easy race, organised in teams of 2

Start: 5:30 pm at Bärental or Seeort
Closing time:16:45 at the Gasthof Gosausee
Registration: at the Gasthof Gosausee
Course: 800 m for children born 2018 – 2020
Course: 2 km for pupils born between 2014 and 2017
Character: technically easy race, single race

The entry fee includes a refreshment point at the race.

Classes: pupils, women, men, mixed pairs or an unofficial individual classification for men and women

The event takes place in all weathers!
