More about the contributor

*born 1958 in Reith/Tyrol, where he still lives today. In juxtapositions, which the Tyrolean photographer has been working on since 2000, he presents an image in black and white – usually a photo from the rich estate of agricultural engineer Armin Kniely (1907-1998) – next to a colour image that he photographed himself. Lois Hechenblaikner’s aim is to visualise how a region has changed in just two generations. He tells of the loss of traditions, of hard, physical farm labour in the rhythm of the seasons and of the services that now have to be provided all year round. It tells of the individualisation of society and of contemporary forms of leisure activities.
