More about the contributor

Maria Pfeiffer was born in Münsterland. Her Dutch father and Silesian mother shaped her great interest in European coexistence. Studied social education in Münster, specialising in youth work and adult education. Moved to Austria, editing a specialist magazine for the youth sector, experiential education at the youth education centre in the Kleines Walsertal, adult and parent education and setting up a counselling centre. Most recently, application for and realisation of European projects as EU representative of Caritas Upper Austria.

Voluntary work in the Salzkammergut Women’s Forum since 2012. Storytelling café, biographical work and collaboration on the travelling exhibition as part of the Leader project “Frauenarbeit im Blick” about the history of the women of the Ebensee spinning and weaving mill. Since 2022 in the project team “Pulling a Thread” for the Capital of Culture Salzkammergut 2024.

The former weaving and spinning mill Ebensee is the hub of the project, which addresses the history of the working world of women, role attributions, social achievements and controversies.
