Artist couple Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger launch a spatial narrative from a bird’s-eye view, a wondrous beginning whose outcome is open. Their installation offers space up to the ceiling for wondrous creatures that can be imagined and built on the spot.
Thus grows a wild decoy world of devious lovebirds and shy vultures, organized chickens and amorous dragons, cockatoos, hummingbirds and saucy bullfinches, icy siskins, hungry smackers, prize-winning goldfinches, fantastic crossbills, Citizen Titmice and Ebensee Swifts, impatient Alpine Parrots, purple Swans, well-traveled Gallinules and generous Magpies, Zizibes and Birigös, excited Nestlings and flamboyant Nest Fledglings, bird droppings, sexy Egg Dances and as yet undiscovered Swarmers.
The former restaurant becomes a center of anarchic, ornithological diversity. The place does not yet know what it will look like in the end, but is curious about the uncontrolled ideas of its visitors. From a generous supply of found and local materials, a lively installation emerges that can be walked on and played with, that leaves one amazed and encourages one to try things out. Because: If you want birds, you need the courage to go wild.
