Bad Ischl and the operettas: this is a connection that has distinguished the city for over 100 years, thanks to the composer Franz Lehár. This circumstance and his personal entanglement with the anti-Semitism of this National Socialist period are the basis for a cooperation between the Lehár Festival and the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Over the course of a competition, three 20-minute short operettas by young composers and librettists will be selected and premiered within the scope of the Lehár Festival. The focus of the works will be placed on the coming to terms with and engaging with cultural memory with a focus on National Socialism.
