“The term ‘landscape’ has always contained a complex mixture of meanings. In a sense, it could be defined as something we can never fully grasp, something that is beyond our human scale in both temporal and spatial terms, a mixture of longing and fascination with fear and destruction that takes us to the unknown planes of existence.

I want to look at Lake Traunsee by imagining the ancient ways in which humans have related to natural landscapes, where architecture, objects and garments are means of survival, of measuring and understanding what is beyond our limits. Objects as extensions of our bodies and senses that invite us to go beyond the surface of the images and go a little further.

Always in search of new impulses, we explore the city and the countryside. The collective works critically and playfully at the same time, locally and in specific places, even away from the much-noticed metropolises. Founded in Weimar (DE) in 2013, we are now also active as an open collective in Berlin and Vienna.
We want to cast new perspectives on (in-between) spaces, uncover social issues found there, make them visible, put them up for discussion and renegotiate them. We humorously question the familiar, explore, uncover power structures, (re)question and interfere – sometimes in an uncomfortable way. In playful and fantastic reinterpretations, we create opportunities for change.

The collective will be working on the Seeamt project on site from 20 September to 7 October:
Seeamt reformulates the question “Who owns the lake?”. Because territorial boundaries become blurred on the water. The constant negotiation of different appropriations of space therefore becomes the subject of our artistic research. How does the lake open up the possibility of fluidly rethinking ownership and property? “Who is the lake?”.

Opening

On Wednesday, 11 September 2024, the opening will take place from 17:30. After a welcome drink and a small culinary greeting, the project will be officially opened in Grünau im Almtal by the chairman of proHolz Oberösterreich and other partners. The musicians of the Echoblasen will accompany the event with music.

The installation will be on display at the Almsee from 12/09 to 03/11/24 as a symbol of the forestry and timber industry in the region and an attractive photo motif. This is the recipe for success of Paul Abraham’s fairy tale in the Grand Hotel. The story is set in an elegant hotel on the French Riviera and is about a bankrupt American film producer. His daughter Marylou intends to save her father’s company by making a film about the Grand Hotel and, above all, its aristocratic guests. All too soon she finds herself caught up in the turbulent amorous confusion of the illustrious circle. A clumsy hotel employee, the unrecognised Spanish infanta and, last but not least, Marylou herself contribute to the hilarious escalation of the chaos.
