Lucy Orta born 1966 in the UK + Jorge Orta born 1953 in Argentina, use a variety of media in their collaborative practice to realise works that address important social and environmental challenges. Their bestknown works include OrtaWater and Clouds, which reflect on water scarcity and the problems arising from its pollution and corporate control. In recognition of their contribution to sustainability, the artists received the Green Leaf Award for outstanding artistic achievement with an environmental message, presented in 2007 by the United Nations Environment Programme in collaboration with the Natural World Museum at the NobelPeace Center in Oslo, Norway. Orta’s artworks have been included in many important exhibitions, including Venice Biennale; 2nd Johannesburg Biennale, South Africa; Gwangju Biennale; 9th Havana Biennale; Palazzo Vecchio, Museo Salvatore Ferragamo,Museo Novecento, Florence; Les Tanneries, Amilly; Drawing Lab, Paris.
