More about the contributor

Maximiliano León studied painting under Daniel Richter at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and under José Luís Sánchez Rull at E.N.P.E.G. La Esmeralda in Mexico City. León’s body of work focuses on the issues of the search of his own identity due to growing up in a multicultural environment – Mexico and Austria. He focuses especially on the connections between the two countries, such as the emperor Maximilian I of Mexico with whom he shares the same name. His work has been exhibited internationally, i.e. in New York, Mexico City, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Dubai, Berlin and Vienna.
