Yaron Lifschitz studied at the University of New South Wales, the University of Queensland and the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, where he was the youngest director to be admitted to the prestigious programme. Since graduating, he has directed over 60 productions, including operas, plays, physical theatre productions and circus. His work is regularly shown at major festivals and in prestigious guest venues, including the BAM Brooklyn Academy of Music, NYC, the Barbican, London, Les Nuits de Fourvière, Lyon, the Chamäleon Theatre Berlin, Edinburgh International Festival, Avignon Festival and many more. Lifschitz has received numerous awards for his creations, including six Helpmann Awards and the Australian Council Theatre Award. He has presented his work as a film director at festivals such as the Berlinale and the Melbourne Film Festival. In recent years, he was Artistic Director of the Australian Museum’s Theatre Unit and Creative Director of the 21st Commonwealth Games Arts and Culture Programme in 2018. He has worked as a lecturer in directing at the Australian Theatre for Young People and is a regular guest lecturer at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts. Yaron Lifschitz is currently Artistic Director and CEO of Circa Contemporary Circus.

His most recent works realised with Circa include Beethoven9 (2020), Leviathan (2020), Humans 2.0 (2021), Sacre (2021), María de Buenos Aires (2021) and On By Circa (2022).
