23 x Salzkammergut am Präsentierteller

Clothing, work or kitchen utensils, crockery, furniture, grilles or gates – almost all objects of material folk culture are adorned with ornaments. From the collection of the province of Upper Austria, 23 museum artefacts were selected that have a connection to the 23 municipalities that will come together to form the European Capital of Culture in 2024. They all have different patterns, which served as inspiration for the painters at Gmundner Keramik Manufaktur. They designed 23 plates based on the ornaments on the objects. The resulting works clearly demonstrate the rich variety of forms that the Salzkammergut has to offer. At the same time, they are able to tell exciting stories about the region and its people.
