The installation of nesting aids is an important support for the diversity of native birdlife. Experienced craftsman Hans Gigler will guide you through every step of the nest box building process. In addition, forester Thomas Kranabitl will tell you about different bird species and why nesting boxes are so important for their protection. You will learn more about the habitats and behaviour of different bird species and understand how we can actively contribute to their conservation by installing nesting boxes. If you want to promote certain species, the nest box should be customised to the requirements of this species. The shape and size, the entrance hole and the installation location are particularly important.
The garden day in the Bad Aussee Alpine Garden also takes place on this day. The workshop is particularly suitable for children. To ensure that there is enough material for all participants, please register in advance. However, spontaneous participants are also welcome as long as places and material are available.
We look forward to welcoming you to the nest box building workshop and working together to promote bird diversity in our neighbourhood!
Bring with you: Comfortable clothes that can get dirty. Lots of enthusiasm and curiosity!
Gravity and Growth
To what extent is the human being a part of nature and how can we shape a sustainable world? The alpine garden in Bad Aussee is known as an oasis of botanical diversity. In times where knowledge regarding landscape and gardening is becoming increasingly lost, its significance as a place of recreation and mediation must be emphasized. In this project, it serves as a basis and space of yearning for the scientific and artistic examination of biodiversity, ecosystems as well as nature- friendly sustainability strategies and the relationship of human beings to the pre-alpine and alpine landscapes.
