Description

What materials and techniques have been used in the past to build resilient homes? Which of these building methods have proven to be durable, sustainable and beautiful in the long run? An exploration with workshops and lectures as participatory knowledge transfer.

Clay is widespread throughout the world and has been used since time immemorial. Precisely because it is also accessible to the poorest, loam has been used in crisis situations, but otherwise tabooed as a “poor people’s building material'”. Its uniquely narrow ecological footprint and its impressive physical properties have made clay respectable again in recent years. In the workshop, you will not only learn the basics of earth building techniques, but also how to enjoy working with a building material that can be processed with bare hands.
