“In the mainstream, inter* people are usually portrayed in a distorted and voyeuristic way. But what are their own stories that they want to share? Why have the performers become activists and vice versa? Why do they fight for human rights, visibility and the removal of taboos for people with variations in gender characteristics? What are the untold stories? In the setting of a TV talk show, the intersex performers share their own stories and experiences, sometimes crass, sometimes sad, sometimes funny or even absurd.”
The four sold-out performances were filmed and turned into a film. What does the cinematic translation of this evening of theatre look like? Where does this look at the topics of the intersex performers take us?

Salzkammerqueer

In order to facilitate the exchange of experiences among like-minded people and those looking for support in rural areas, the women’s centres are helping to establish a queer community in the Salzkammergut with this project. The aim is to initially provide a home base and infrastructure for an active community that will exist beyond the duration of the project. The second goal is an experimental short film series and artistic photo positions that convey queer life in the Salzkammergut via social media.

Museum of Memory

A house becomes a place for exchanging the living history of its surroundings. The history of the Lederermayerhaus dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. Among other things, it was the location of a fishmonger’s and the home of a Lederer trade. It was a farm and a loving cat house, cared for by its last owner.

Important information about visiting the museum

Due to its age and building structure the Lederermayerhaus is not barrier-free and not suitable for large gatherings of people – in the event of large crowds or bad weather  there may therefore be waiting times when visiting the opening or other events. We ask for your understanding. Drinks and weather-protected seating in front of the building will be provided.

Please also note that access to the museum room is via an old, unsecured staircase and very low doors. The museum room is located on the first floor.

Public WC facilities are located opposite in the municipal office building.

The association coaching event, which is also supported by the Women’s Department of the Province of Upper Austria and the magazine “Welt der Frauen”,  will take place on 18 October at 5.30 pm. HERE is the link to the invitation. Women who already have a role in football or would like to get involved in the future are invited registrations are possible online HERE until 15 October. In addition, the participants are invited to a guided tour of the Gmundner Keramik Manufaktur before the event at 2 pm, where they will also receive a voucher for 10 euros. “Our goal is for women in football to find a home in a wide variety of roles and, specifically, to increase the number of female officials by 25% by the end of 2026. The LADIES TALK is a key pillar of this charm offensive because this format combines direct dialogue, exciting content and important insights,” explains OÖFV President Gerhard Götschhofer. The event in Gmunden will centre around a keynote speech on the topic of “Leadership skills in football” by Tobias Bracht from the International Football Institute. In addition, measures and development steps of the Upper Austrian Football Association will be presented based on the evaluation process as part of the last LADIES TALK.
 
After a girls’ hobby tournament and the first women-only coach training course in Upper Austria, the LADIES TALK is the third women’s football project in which the Upper Austrian Football Association is cooperating with the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl – Salzkammergut 2024. “The Upper Austrian Football Association is a loyal partner and supporter of the Women’s and Girls’ Football in the Salzkammergut project. Only together can we manage to promote, consolidate and establish women’s football in the Salzkammergut and in Upper Austria,” says Marija Gavric, who initiated the Women’s and Girls’ Football in the Salzkammergut project as part of the Capital of Culture year.

The selected works provide an insight into the most diverse models of social and cultural coexistence. Partly located in rural areas and in the context of current social realities and developments, the programme invites the audience to immerse themselves in multifaceted stories of life in today’s Europe. Film talks and the panel discussion “Salzkammergut, let’s live together!” provide the opportunity for direct, on-site discussion.

We talk, drink and eat … Just like a regulars’ table! With one difference: the door is open to anyone who is interested in what our towns, villages and landscapes look like and is motivated to help shape our living environment.

The longer a building exists, the more it is charged with history and stories. People identify with buildings, they provide orientation and sometimes they are given their own names. The former Gasthaus zum Rosenkranz, now owned by Christiane Hofinger, is such a case. It has stood in its place for over 300 years. Rosaries were once turned here – hence the name.

Generations of guests have been in and out of the parlour since the middle of the 19th century. The pub was closed in 1979. As part of the Salzkammergut Capital of Culture 2024, the building will be used again for the Salzkammer-GUAD pub laboratory, a cooperation project between the HLW Don Bosco Vöcklabruck and Jochen Neustifter (JO’s Restaurant Vorchdorf).

But what prospects are there for such buildings in a time that is characterised less by ideals and more by monetary standards? After the first Gmundner Baukultur Stammtisch was dedicated to the topic of “vacancy”, this time we want to discuss whether architectural heritage has enough value to be able to stand up to commercialisation.

It’s getting cold outside, so it’s all the nicer to go into a hot sauna. However, the cold often stays inside us, no matter how warmly we heat up. In our society, general empathy doesn’t exactly look good. We close ourselves off, stay in our bubbles and would rather have fun online than start a real conversation with strangers. Social isolation is a symptom of today’s living conditions and has long since reached the countryside as well as the big cities. Contact between residents is not always better here, control often prevails over communication, and loneliness and marginalisation are just as prevalent here as in urban areas. Before the sauna closes for the season, we want to heat things up for all friends and new visitors to the floating sauna. So let’s sit close together, rub our bodies and talk about utopias in which every cold is overcome and we are always warm.

The lake still cools on hot days. But what if the temperatures keep rising? If you look at the water and the mountain landscape, everything seems to be as it always has been. But appearances are deceptive. Slopes slide, whole rocks break off, meadows dry out, there is no snow and a dissident mussel makes its way into the lake. Before everything tips over, we invite you to a climate talk in the floating sauna during the hottest time of the year. Perhaps, so the theory goes, the additional heat is putting us in such a scary situation that immediate action is called for. So instead of inactively blowing even more CO2 into the air, we pour it on until everyone really understands how hot and humid it will soon be if we do nothing. In the sauna, aquatic ecologist Philipp Schubert-Zsilavecz and artist Markus Hiesleitner discuss with all those who value a good climate at Lake Traunsee.

In Finland, people believe that the sauna is the most democratic place of all. People sit on the same level, are naked and therefore freed from role models and representation, and can have more open and heated discussions than anywhere else. Sauna sessions encourage people to talk to each other openly without social barriers. That’s exactly what we want to do. We invite all residents, visitors and stakeholders around Lake Traunsee to discuss spatial policy with us. The really hot topics of the Traunsee region will be discussed in the floating sauna: the few public access points to the lake, strange (re)dedications, lack of co-determination, the overflowing traffic and much more. The unusual spatial planner Isabel Stumfol and the radically different architect Clemens Bauder have been invited as external experts. The sauna thus becomes a floating agora. Sweat, talk, argue, cool down. Let’s take a different approach to problems!
