This beer is a bridge for intercultural dialogue.

Brewed within the borders of the Salzkammergut, Åndas combines the essence of the region with global nuances. This beer not only quenches thirst, but also promotes understanding, celebrates global diversity and redefines our notions of familiar and foreign. The recipe primarily uses grains and plants from the region, but also dares to think outside the box and includes ingredients from the African continent. These components are more than mere ingredients; they embody narratives from different regions and combine global stories with local traditions.

13/03/24 – Presentation of the beer at the Schloss Eggenberg private brewery

Åndas’ advertising campaign takes a nuanced approach that reflects the beer’s dual identity – rooted in tradition yet global. The posters show people of African descent embodying different global cultures. “ÅNDAS” is more than a beer concept; it is a visual and sensory statement about the beauty and importance of diversity, which is reflected in its unique taste that combines local heritage with global flavours.

Keynote

Playing with perceptions
Heiner Goebbels

“His melodic and rhythmic flair form a strong foundation on which emotionality, attitude and humanity are expressed in equal measure. He has constantly challenged the audience’s perception. “*

The work of the internationally renowned and multi-award-winning composer and theatre maker Heiner Goebbels is characterised by his play with perceptions. The artist creates spaces for the imagination with challenging aesthetics that can take the audience’s breath away or be as harsh and gloomy as a landscape with open-cast lignite mining. He finds audiences all over the world who are happy to accept this challenge and who, according to Goebbels himself, should ideally be “curious and very open-minded”. Because they will experience something with all their senses, something unheard of, something new and therefore strange. The artistic border crosser’s search for the unknown and unnoticed is accompanied by social commitment and political awareness.

(*Jury of GEMA’s 12th Music Authors’ Prize, which Heiner Goebbels was awarded in 2021)

What historical traces can we find in the Salzkammergut today? What does the culture of remembrance look like? Which aspects are anchored, which are not (anymore)? A class at the HLW Bad Ischl started a search for traces of Transylvania in the region in 2023. This included visits to the Heimat- und Landlermuseum in Bad Goisern, museum.ebensee and meetings with representatives of the Transylvanian Saxons in Upper Austria.

In Bad Ischl, another pillar refers to the project. In each of the six issues, which are published every two to three weeks, the editorial team – supported by local experts – tells stories about a key species that is particularly important in the region. In issue #1, this will be the star daffodil.

Narzissenpost

The Narzissenpost, a magazine on advertising pillars, deals with nature and traditions and examines the changes they are subject to.

Immerse yourself in this creative adventure with colour, paper and print, design your work of art and take it home with you! Also discover works from the Bruckner printed symposium in the litho workshop, led by Renate Moran. Bold perspectives for the future always emerge from new beginnings. In the Salzkammergut, doors have opened, dams have broken, new spaces have been created that generate a positive momentum, a pull for utopias and visions. This is now an opportunity to create a wonderful future full of optimism and euphoria. With starsky’s large-scale projections and the sounds of Therese Terror, we pour out a cornucopia of utopias that deal with the beautiful, the positive, the visionary. They take up space, they play themselves lovingly into the minds and hearts of the viewers, where they fit in and nestle. Where they may lead to an openness for the new, the beautiful and art…

How can women and their actions or their positive impact on the city be made more visible? Last year, a commission of historians dealt with this question and made recommendations for the naming of streets and squares. This research focused on women who had their centre of life in Bad Ischl and who were victims of the National Socialist terror regime or were in the resistance because of various aspects. One of these women was Theresia Pesendorfer: The ceremony for the project will take place on Europe Day, at the square named after her near the music pavilion in Bad Ischl’s Kurpark.

She observes the cynicism and the lack of a sense of reality when it comes to our vanishing resources distinctly and with dismay. Her sculpture Atemluft is a sensory image of despair, a struggle for what we need in order to live and a scream about what we are giving away. What remains? What are we losing? What do we have at stake? A point of contact – abstract and yet very close.

Opening: 16:30 in the presence of the artist

The sculpture will remain in place beyond 2024.
